The average import price for cereals; grain sorghum, other than seeds stood at $123 per ton in 2022, rising by 3% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 65%. The import price peaked at $1,104 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kenya ($847 per ton), while the price for Tanzania stood at $80 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Pakistan (-0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average export price for cereals; grain sorghum, other than seeds amounted to $195 per ton, surging by 7.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 28%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $332 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Sudan ($224 per ton), while the average price for exports to Tanzania ($15 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Burundi (+15.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
