In August 2023, the average import price for cereals; maize (corn), other than seeds amounted to $274 per ton, dropping by -5.3% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 9.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $350 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Ukraine.
From October 2022 to August 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for France amounted to +0.8% per month.

In August 2023, the average export price for cereals; maize (corn), other than seeds amounted to $381 per ton, surging by 42% against the previous month. Over the last ten months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.6%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($594 per ton), while the average price for exports to Iceland amounted to $246 per ton.
From October 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
