In June 2023, the average cereals; maize (corn), seed import price amounted to $5,678 per ton, dropping by -35.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 259% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $8,752 per ton in May 2023, and then fell remarkably in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Luxembourg ($10,623 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($4,557 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+20.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The export price peaked at $3,451 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Luxembourg ($3,543 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($2,271 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
