In 2022, the average export price for cermets; articles thereof, including waste and scrap amounted to $110,596 per ton, flattening at the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a mild contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average export price increased by 50%. The export price peaked at $127,184 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($213,492 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($58,543 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+4.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In general, imports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 92% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, imports of cermets; articles thereof, including waste and scrap reduced slightly to $26M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +44.9% against 2020 indices.
