In May 2024, the average import price for cermets; articles thereof, including waste and scrap amounted to $80,542 per ton, shrinking by -1.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2023 an increase of 42% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $105K per ton. From October 2023 to May 2024, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In May 2024, the country with the highest price was the United States ($165K per ton), while the price for China ($65,844 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From May 2023 to May 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average export price for cermets; articles thereof, including waste and scrap amounted to $65,528 per ton, increasing by 4.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a noticeable descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 75%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $141,270 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($329,357 per ton), while the average price for exports to Yemen ($39,747 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +61.8% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 61%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
