Price for Cherry and Sour Cherry in Vietnam (CIF) - 2021
In December 2021, the average cherry and sour cherry import price amounted to $4,236 per ton, dropping by -1.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a mild shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2021 when the average import price increased by 9.3% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $4,961 per ton in December 2020; however, from January 2021 to December 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($4,307 per ton), while the price for Australia amounted to $4,213 per ton.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+0.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Price for Cherry and Sour Cherry in Vietnam (FOB) - 2022
The average cherry and sour cherry export price stood at $3,826 per ton in 2022, picking up by 7.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a mild increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 187%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $4,095 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($8,691 per ton), while the average price for exports to Lao People's Democratic Republic ($683 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bahrain (+21.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Cherry and Sour Cherry in Vietnam
Cherry and sour cherry imports into Vietnam expanded notably to 9.6K tons in 2022, growing by 10% compared with the year before. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern.
In value terms, cherry and sour cherry imports surged to $49M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
