In 2022, the average import price for chocolate and other food preparations containing cocoa amounted to $3,615 per ton, declining by -3.6% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 12%. The import price peaked at $3,895 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were the Philippines ($3,619 per ton) and Indonesia ($3,619 per ton), while the price for Italy ($3,616 per ton) and China ($3,618 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for chocolate and other food preparations containing cocoa amounted to $3,869 per ton, growing by 4.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 9% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $4,082 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to the Philippines ($3,872 per ton) and Japan ($3,872 per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($3,872 per ton) and Malaysia ($3,872 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Chocolate and Other Food Preparations Containing Cocoa in Vietnam

Imports of chocolate and other food preparations containing cocoa into Vietnam shrank to 1.6K tons in 2022, with a decrease of -8% against the year before. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 53%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 1.7K tons, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, imports of chocolate and other food preparations containing cocoa reduced to $5.7M in 2022.
