Price for Chocolate Bar with Filling in Portugal (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average chocolate bar with filling import price amounted to $5,270 per ton, almost unchanged from the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 when the average import price increased by 16% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $5,281 per ton in May 2023, and then shrank slightly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($11,708 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($3,579 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+11.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average chocolate bar with filling export price stood at $8,918 per ton in June 2023, increasing by 6.6% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated tangible growth from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.0% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, chocolate bar with filling export price decreased by -13.0% against April 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 57% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $10,248 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to June 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Brazil ($27,240 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($2,617 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Brazil (+13.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
