In August 2023, the average chromium oxides and hydroxides import price amounted to $6,112 per ton, surging by 497% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate tangible growth. The import price peaked at $6,686 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($8,687 per ton), while the price for Poland ($5,407 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+6.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average chromium oxides and hydroxides export price amounted to $5,431 per ton, picking up by 8.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $6,779 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were the UK ($6,415 per ton) and France ($5,797 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($4,500 per ton) and Sweden ($5,530 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (-0.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
