The average import price for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses stood at $10 per thousand units in 2022, dropping by -12.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a mild descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 8.4% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $13 per thousand units. From 2021 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($12 per thousand units), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($6.8 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Nigeria (+8.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses stood at $16 per thousand units in 2022, declining by -5.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 35%. The export price peaked at $31 per thousand units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($26 per thousand units), while the average price for exports to Congo ($1.3 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Nigeria (+10.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a pronounced reduction. Imports peaked at $25M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
