In 2022, the average import price for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses amounted to $6.8 per thousand units, with an increase of 13% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded pronounced growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 153%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($7.7 per thousand units), while the price for Vietnam amounted to $1.9 per thousand units.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Nigeria (+2.9%).

The average export price for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses stood at $1.4 per thousand units in 2022, with a decrease of -40.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, posted a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 2,615%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $35 per thousand units. From 2018 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($1.9 per thousand units), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates totaled $1.4 per thousand units.
From 2014 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+15.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
