The average export price for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses stood at $16 per thousand units in 2022, waning by -6.7% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $17 per thousand units in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malta ($44 per thousand units), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($10 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malta (+10.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price peaked at $20 per thousand units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($66 per thousand units), while the price for the Czech Republic ($14 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
