The average export price for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses stood at $9.5 per thousand units in 2022, standing approx. at the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 6.1% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $10 per thousand units. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($22 per thousand units), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($5.5 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Thailand (+6.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses stood at $17 per thousand units in 2022, jumping by 20% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $23 per thousand units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($56 per thousand units), while the price for Hong Kong SAR ($12 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+8.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Cigars, Cheroots, Cigarillos and Cigarettes; of Tobacco or of Tobacco Substitutes in Indonesia
In 2022, shipments abroad of cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses increased by 14% to 102B units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, exports of cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses expanded remarkably to $973M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In general, imports, however, showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 177% against the previous year. Imports peaked at 7.3B units in 2021, and then dropped markedly in the following year.
In value terms, imports of cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses fell significantly to $76M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 124% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $103M in 2021, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.
