The average import price for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses stood at $21 per thousand units in 2022, with an increase of 7.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses increased by +7.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 83%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $21 per thousand units. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($28 per thousand units), while the price for Turkey ($7.8 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Armenia (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses amounted to $17 per thousand units, jumping by 19% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 68% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $53 per thousand units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($37 per thousand units), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates stood at $17 per thousand units.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, approx. 62B units of cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses were imported into Iraq; growing by 18% against 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a mild decrease. Imports peaked at 65B units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, imports of cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses skyrocketed to $1.3B in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
