The average export price for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses stood at $15 per thousand units in 2022, declining by -27.3% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses increased by +25.7% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 41% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $20 per thousand units, and then shrank sharply in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mauritius ($27 per thousand units), while the average price for exports to Rwanda ($6 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mauritius (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses amounted to $12 per thousand units, picking up by 51% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible downturn. The import price peaked at $26 per thousand units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($16 per thousand units), while the price for the United Arab Emirates amounted to $12 per thousand units.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+1.3%).

In 2022, overseas shipments of cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses were finally on the rise to reach 4.6B units after two years of decline. Overall, exports, however, showed a abrupt slump. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the maximum at 6.5B units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, exports of cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses contracted notably to $67M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 39% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $89M, and then reduced sharply in the following year.
