In May 2024, the average import price for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses amounted to $130 per thousand units, surging by 7.4% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.9%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2024 an increase of 44% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $0.1 per unit. From March 2024 to May 2024, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In May 2024, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($165 per thousand units), while the price for Germany ($29.0 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From May 2023 to May 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lithuania (+6.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses amounted to $0.1 per unit, waning by -61.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, enjoyed a noticeable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 266% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $0.3 per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($0.7 per unit), while the average price for exports to Denmark (less than $0.1 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+10.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Imports of Cigars, Cheroots, Cigarillos and Cigarettes; of Tobacco or of Tobacco Substitutes in Norway
In 2022, overseas purchases of cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses decreased by -25.1% to 1.5B units, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports recorded a slight reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 36% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 2.1B units. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, imports of cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses shrank sharply to $169M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at $250M in 2021, and then dropped notably in the following year.

Overall, exports posted a significant expansion. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Over the period under review, exports posted a significant increase. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
