Price for Cigars, Cheroots, Cigarillos and Cigarettes; of Tobacco or of Tobacco Substitutes in Serbia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average export price for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses amounted to $7.8 per thousand units, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a noticeable slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 15%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $14 per thousand units. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Montenegro ($25 per thousand units), while the average price for exports to Libya ($5.8 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Montenegro (+6.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average import price for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses amounted to $19 per thousand units, dropping by -12.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average import price increased by 40% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $22 per thousand units in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Bosnia and Herzegovina ($22 per thousand units), while the price for North Macedonia ($12 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bosnia and Herzegovina (+10.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Cigars, Cheroots, Cigarillos and Cigarettes; of Tobacco or of Tobacco Substitutes in Serbia
In 2022, exports of cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses from Serbia rose notably to 31B units, increasing by 5.7% on the previous year. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 9.2% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
In value terms, exports of cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses rose to $245M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 9.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, purchases abroad of cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses increased by 20% to 4.3B units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, recorded a noticeable descent. Over the period under review, imports of reached the peak figure at 4.8B units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, imports of cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses rose markedly to $84M in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 6.5%. Imports peaked at $92M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
