In 2022, the average export price for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses amounted to $6.1 per thousand units, with a decrease of -6.3% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 33%. The export price peaked at $9.7 per thousand units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mozambique ($8.8 per thousand units), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($5.7 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Zambia (+12.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average import price for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses amounted to $24 per thousand units, with a decrease of -8.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the average import price increased by 73% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $31 per thousand units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($32 per thousand units), while the price for China ($3.1 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Serbia (+53.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +80.5% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 51%. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
