The average import price for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses stood at $32 per thousand units in 2022, which is down by -3.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 28%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $33 per thousand units, and then declined slightly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($51 per thousand units), while the price for Mexico ($12 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ecuador (+58.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($91 per thousand units), while the average price for exports to Trinidad and Tobago ($11 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+8.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
