The average export price for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses stood at $37 per thousand units in 2022, dropping by -13.7% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.1%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 24%. The export price peaked at $45 per thousand units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($50 per thousand units), while the average price for exports to Japan ($27 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+10.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses decreased by -13.9% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 34%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $25 per thousand units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +104.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 52% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, exports of cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses amounted to $1B in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a significant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +21.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +77.0% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 60%. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
