In 2022, the average import price for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses amounted to $52 per thousand units, approximately reflecting the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price enjoyed a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average import price increased by 60% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Honduras ($674 per thousand units), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($9.6 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Honduras (+29.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substituteses stood at $41 per thousand units in 2022, dropping by -32.3% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, posted a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 73%. The export price peaked at $60 per thousand units in 2021, and then fell markedly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($79 per thousand units), while the average price for exports to Cuba ($3.9 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Haiti (+15.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the exports of attained the peak figure at $881M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
