Price for Citrus Fruits Not Elsewhere Classified in Australia (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average export price for citrus fruits not elsewhere classified amounted to $1,699 per ton, shrinking by -15.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 94% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,139 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($14,824 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($1,202 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+30.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $15,203 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($48,335 per ton), while the price for China ($4,272 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+18.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Citrus fruits not elsewhere classified exports from Australia declined to 192 tons in 2022, reducing by -11.8% on the year before. In general, total exports indicated a temperate increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +33.4% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 51% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 217 tons, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, citrus fruits not elsewhere classified exports fell dramatically to $325K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 58%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $439K, and then declined notably in the following year.
