Price for Citrus Fruits Not Elsewhere Classified in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2023

The average export price for citrus fruits not elsewhere classified stood at $2,596 per ton in July 2023, with an increase of 30% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated a mild increase from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, citrus fruits not elsewhere classified export price increased by +43.3% against May 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2022 an increase of 51% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $3,782 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($5,030 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($1,363 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lithuania (+15.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for citrus fruits not elsewhere classified stood at $1,793 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 29% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,578 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($4,284 per ton), while the price for Germany ($1,161 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovenia (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Exports of Citrus Fruits Not Elsewhere Classified in the Netherlands

In 2022, overseas shipments of citrus fruits not elsewhere classified decreased by -18.6% to 5.1K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, exports recorded a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 23%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 7.5K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, citrus fruits not elsewhere classified exports reduced to $13M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 27%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $21M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, citrus fruits not elsewhere classified imports surged to $9.6M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 43%.
