Price for Citrus Fruits Not Elsewhere Classified in the UK (CIF) - 2023

In June 2023, the average import price for citrus fruits not elsewhere classified amounted to $3,120 per ton, dropping by -13.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a modest increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 an increase of 127% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3,623 per ton in May 2023, and then reduced in the following month.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was China ($9,864 per ton), while the price for Ireland ($2,013 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average export price for citrus fruits not elsewhere classified stood at $4,161 per ton in 2022, growing by 51% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a notable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 68%. The export price peaked at $5,298 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($18,091 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($2,306 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iceland (+57.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, imports of citrus fruits not elsewhere classified into the UK expanded markedly to 8.6K tons, rising by 6.2% against the previous year's figure. In general, imports recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 122%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, citrus fruits not elsewhere classified imports shrank significantly to $12M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 154%.

In value terms, citrus fruits not elsewhere classified exports shrank sharply to $26K in 2022. In general, exports saw a sharp decrease. The smallest decline of -36.9% was in 2020.
