In 2022, the average import price for cocoa beans; whole or broken, raw or roasteds amounted to $11,256 per ton, surging by 23% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 153% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $11,810 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($15,083 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($8,771 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ghana (+12.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
