The average export price for cocoa beans; whole or broken, raw or roasteds stood at $2,474 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -7.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 20%. The export price peaked at $3,259 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($5,382 per ton), while the average price for exports to Indonesia ($2,239 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
