Price for Cocoa; Paste, Not Defatted in Indonesia (FOB) - 2022
In March 2022, the average cocoa; paste, not defatted export price amounted to $6,085 per ton, surging by 30% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated a mild increase from March 2021 to March 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.8% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on March 2022 figures, cocoa; paste, not defatted export price increased by +91.7% against December 2021 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2022 when the average export price increased by 48% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $6,128 per ton in July 2021; afterwards, it flattened through to March 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was China ($6,798 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($3,149 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mexico (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average cocoa; paste, not defatted import price stood at $3,651 per ton in March 2022, falling by -1.8% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2021 when the average import price increased by 29% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $5,241 per ton. From June 2021 to March 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2022, the highest price was recorded for prices from Singapore ($3,874 per ton) and Malaysia ($3,754 per ton), while the price for Ghana ($3,260 per ton) and Cote d'Ivoire ($3,659 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+16.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, exports of cocoa; paste, not defatteds from Indonesia dropped remarkably to 10K tons, shrinking by -24.5% on the year before. Overall, exports continue to indicate a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 23%.
