The average export price for cocoa; paste, wholly or partly defatted stood at $2,377 per ton in March 2022, falling by -2% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.6%. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2021 an increase of 37% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $2,584 per ton. From July 2021 to March 2022, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In March 2022, the highest price was recorded for prices to Spain ($2,540 per ton) and Malaysia ($2,365 per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($2,304 per ton) and Mexico ($2,314 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for cocoa; paste, wholly or partly defatted stood at $2,406 per ton in March 2022, approximately equating the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2022 an increase of 25% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $2,498 per ton in September 2021; however, from October 2021 to March 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2022, the highest price was recorded for prices from Ghana ($2,857 per ton) and Malaysia ($2,497 per ton), while the price for Cote d'Ivoire ($2,024 per ton) and China ($2,270 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Cote d'Ivoire (+5.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Cocoa; Paste, Wholly or Partly Defatted in Indonesia
In 2022, exports of cocoa; paste, wholly or partly defatted from Indonesia expanded notably to 46K tons, picking up by 5% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a noticeable slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 13% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 56K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, exports of cocoa; paste, wholly or partly defatted soared to $128M in 2022. In general, exports saw significant growth. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
