The average import price for compounded rubber, unvulcanised, in primary forms or in plates, sheets or strips stood at $2,753 per ton in January 2024, which is down by -26.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a slight decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2023 an increase of 35% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $3,759 per ton, and then reduced notably in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was the United States ($14,594 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($1,821 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $6,645 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($24,611 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($2,780 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore (+8.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Over the period under review, imports showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 61%.
