In May 2024, the average import price for copper; copper-zinc base alloys (brass) unwroughts amounted to $6,264 per ton, increasing by 5.3% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In May 2024, the countries with the highest prices were Brazil ($7,505 per ton) and South Africa ($7,271 per ton), while the price for Morocco ($5,692 per ton) and Vietnam ($5,842 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From May 2023 to May 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price peaked at $10,603 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
