In March 2022, the average import price for copper plates, sheets and strips amounted to $8,490 per ton, with a decrease of -15.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2021 when the average import price increased by 15% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $10,999 per ton in December 2021; however, from January 2022 to March 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($11,194 per ton), while the price for Russia ($8,091 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average export price for copper plates, sheets and strips amounted to $5,508 per ton, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 45% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $9,903 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Russia.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Russia amounted to -2.8% per year.

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was growth in overseas purchases of copper plates, sheets and strips, when their volume increased by 2.1% to 1.9K tons. In general, imports, however, saw a deep contraction.

In value terms, copper plates, sheets and strip imports contracted to $16M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 40% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $18M, and then dropped in the following year.

Exports of Copper Plates, Sheets and Strip in Belarus

In 2022, shipments abroad of copper plates, sheets and strips was finally on the rise to reach 24 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, exports, however, saw a sharp shrinkage.

In value terms, copper plates, sheets and strip exports skyrocketed to $132K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a sharp decline.
