In July 2023, the average import price for copper plates, sheets and strips amounted to $9,311 per ton, approximately mirroring the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 10% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $9,911 per ton. From May 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Bulgaria ($10,482 per ton) and Turkey ($10,421 per ton), while the price for Finland ($7,084 per ton) and Spain ($7,755 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 8.6% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $11,804 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($20,515 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($10,162 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
