The average export price for copper plates, sheets and strips stood at $12,631 per ton in July 2023, standing approximately at the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 4.9% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $14,116 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was South Korea ($22,888 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($10,165 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (-0.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average import price for copper plates, sheets and strips stood at $10,447 per ton in July 2023, dropping by -10.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 11% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $11,701 per ton, and then dropped in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($17,568 per ton), while the price for Taiwan (Chinese) ($9,255 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Exports of Copper Plates, Sheets and Strip in Japan

In 2022, the amount of copper plates, sheets and strips exported from Japan declined to 113K tons, shrinking by -8.7% compared with the year before.
