Price for Copper Plates, Sheets and Strip in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2023
The average export price for copper plates, sheets and strips stood at $9,641 per ton in July 2023, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. Over the period from July 2022 to July 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2022 an increase of 44% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $10,766 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($52,442 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($3,869 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland (+16.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for copper plates, sheets and strips stood at $14,270 per ton in July 2023, remaining constant against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 16% m-o-m. The import price peaked in July 2023.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from China ($17,817 per ton) and Finland ($17,022 per ton), while the price for Belgium ($12,272 per ton) and Germany ($12,888 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Copper Plates, Sheets and Strip in the Netherlands
In 2022, exports of copper plates, sheets and strips from the Netherlands dropped to 23K tons, which is down by -8.1% compared with the year before. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 24%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 25K tons, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, copper plates, sheets and strip exports shrank modestly to $175M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +13.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +61.9% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 63% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $175M, leveling off in the following year.

Imports of Copper Plates, Sheets and Strip in the Netherlands
For the third year in a row, the Netherlands recorded decline in purchases abroad of copper plates, sheets and strips, which decreased by -69.5% to 5.1K tons in 2022. In general, imports recorded a sharp shrinkage. The smallest decline of -1.4% was in 2021.
In value terms, copper plates, sheets and strip imports reduced rapidly to $62M in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a precipitous contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 41%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $163M, and then shrank sharply in the following year.
