Price for Copper Plates, Sheets and Strip in the United States (CIF) - 2023

The average import price for copper plates, sheets and strips stood at $11,844 per ton in August 2023, waning by -2.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 an increase of 9.8% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $12,833 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Japan ($15,306 per ton), while the price for Brazil ($7,807 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+1.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for copper plates, sheets and strips stood at $14,368 per ton in August 2023, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 12% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $15,527 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to August 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was China ($27,556 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($12,281 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
