The average copper; powders and flakes import price stood at $11,011 per ton in September 2023, reducing by -14.2% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 19% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $12,836 per ton in August 2023, and then shrank in the following month.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($15,269 per ton), while the price for Spain ($8,809 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average copper; powders and flakes export price stood at $5,728 per ton in 2022, which is down by -11.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 94%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $9,405 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Dominican Republic ($12,792 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($3,608 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+17.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Copper; Powders and Flakes in Thailand

In 2022, supplies from abroad of copper; powders and flakeses decreased by -23% to 2.5K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +46.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 40% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 3.3K tons, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, copper; powders and flakes imports dropped markedly to $26M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 107%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $35M, and then plummeted in the following year.
