The average export price for copper; refined and copper alloys, unwroughts stood at $8,371 per ton in January 2024, almost unchanged from the previous month. Over the last three months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2023 an increase of 3.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $8,423 per ton in December 2023, and then declined slightly in the following month.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In January 2024, the countries with the highest prices were Thailand ($8,373 per ton) and the United States ($8,373 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($8,369 per ton) and Brazil ($8,369 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From October 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, the import price saw a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 128%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
