The average import price for copper; refined and copper alloys, unwroughts stood at $9,017 per ton in December 2023, growing by 3.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $9,418 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to December 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Sweden ($9,366 per ton) and Spain ($9,240 per ton), while the price for Finland ($8,622 per ton) and Poland ($8,847 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for copper; refined and copper alloys, unwroughts stood at $8,920 per ton in December 2023, with an increase of 1.7% against the previous month. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 7.3% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $9,276 per ton. From February 2023 to December 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In December 2023, the countries with the highest prices were South Korea ($10,170 per ton) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($9,910 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($7,078 per ton) and Hungary ($7,370 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
