In 2022, the average export price for copper; refined and copper alloys, unwroughts amounted to $8,617 per ton, which is down by -4.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 54% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $9,040 per ton, and then shrank modestly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($11,606 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($7,672 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Thailand (+3.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period from March 2021 to March 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2021 when the average import price increased by 7.8% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum in March 2022.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2022, the countries with the highest prices were Australia ($10,725 per ton) and Japan ($10,310 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($9,321 per ton) and India ($9,590 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +17.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +60.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 48%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $1.9B, and then contracted in the following year.
