The average export price for copper; refined and copper alloys, unwroughts stood at $6,344 per ton in 2022, surging by 3.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 51% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $7,566 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Vietnam ($6,513 per ton) and India ($6,494 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($5,976 per ton) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($6,403 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a slight setback. The import price peaked at $10,924 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($28,549 per ton), while the price for Japan ($6,930 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+14.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas shipments of copper; refined and copper alloys, unwroughts decreased by -11.2% to 1.4K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 22% against the previous year.
