The average import price for copper; refined and copper alloys, unwroughts stood at $8,484 per ton in January 2024, remaining stable against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 an increase of 3.6% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $9,310 per ton. From April 2023 to January 2024, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2024, the highest price was recorded for prices from Poland ($8,729 per ton) and Bulgaria ($8,548 per ton), while the price for Iran ($8,102 per ton) and Uzbekistan ($8,356 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (-0.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average export price for copper; refined and copper alloys, unwroughts stood at $7,811 per ton in 2022, picking up by 2.1% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for copper; refined and copper alloys, unwroughts increased by +38.9% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 36% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Germany ($8,788 per ton) and Belgium ($8,615 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($6,683 per ton) and Spain ($7,074 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, exports of copper; refined and copper alloys, unwroughts declined to $251M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 59% against the previous year.
