In March 2024, the average import price for copper; refined, unwrought, cathodes and sections of cathodeses amounted to $9,090 per ton, surging by 2.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2023 when the average import price increased by 6.2% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $9,441 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to March 2024, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2024, the highest price was recorded for prices from Serbia ($9,906 per ton) and Democratic Republic of the Congo ($9,195 per ton), while the price for Congo ($8,800 per ton) and Peru ($8,942 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From March 2023 to March 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Serbia (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for copper; refined, unwrought, cathodes and sections of cathodeses stood at $9,218 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 1.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 158% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $12,327 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Poland ($10,729 per ton) and Croatia ($10,068 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($7,456 per ton) and Belgium ($9,094 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2015 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+12.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
