In February 2024, the average export price for copper; refined, unwrought, cathodes and sections of cathodeses amounted to $7,961 per ton, almost unchanged from the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2024 when the average export price increased by 3.2% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $8,470 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to February 2024, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In February 2024, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($8,058 per ton), while the average price for exports to China totaled $7,933 per ton.
From February 2023 to February 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Georgia (+0.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average import price for copper; refined, unwrought, cathodes and sections of cathodeses amounted to $19,494 per ton, declining by -31.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, enjoyed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 180% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $44,215 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($42,553 per ton), while the price for Finland ($7,913 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
