In 2022, the average export price for copper; refined, unwrought, cathodes and sections of cathodeses amounted to $8,712 per ton, reducing by -1.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $8,942 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Moldova ($10,070 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($7,147 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+25.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for copper; refined, unwrought, cathodes and sections of cathodeses stood at $8,724 per ton in January 2024, leveling off at the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a dramatic setback. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1.2M per ton. From March 2023 to January 2024, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Kazakhstan.
From February 2023 to January 2024, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Kazakhstan amounted to 0.0% per month.
Exports of Copper; Refined, Unwrought, Cathodes and Sections of Cathodes in Ukraine
In 2022, shipments abroad of copper; refined, unwrought, cathodes and sections of cathodeses decreased by -64.9% to 1.5K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 147% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 4.1K tons, and then dropped markedly in the following year.
In value terms, exports of copper; refined, unwrought, cathodes and sections of cathodeses fell dramatically to $13M in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 251%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $37M, and then shrank notably in the following year.

In value terms, imports of copper; refined, unwrought, cathodes and sections of cathodeses plummeted to $1.5K in 2022. In general, imports saw a precipitous curtailment. The smallest decline of -20.3% was in 2020.
