The average copper; waste and scrap export price stood at $6,150 per ton in 2022, picking up by 4.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 22%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were the United Arab Emirates ($6,150 per ton) and India ($6,150 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($6,150 per ton) and South Korea ($6,150 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
