The average cotton; garnetted stock waste import price stood at $2,109 per ton in 2022, increasing by 12% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $3,573 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($2,501 per ton), while the price for Italy amounted to $1,985 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (-2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Imports of Cotton; Garnetted Stock Waste in Cameroon

For the fourth year in a row, Cameroon recorded growth in supplies from abroad of cotton; garnetted stock waste, which increased by 6.9% to 4.4 tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, cotton; garnetted stock waste imports skyrocketed to $9.4K in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +20.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +72.8% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 20% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
