In September 2023, the average cotton; garnetted stock waste export price amounted to $1,025 per ton, waning by -15.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2023 an increase of 34% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $1,844 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to September 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,504 per ton), while the average price for exports to Brazil ($547 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+14.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average cotton; garnetted stock waste import price amounted to $641 per ton, shrinking by -55.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a slight curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the average import price increased by 1,026%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $6,082 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkmenistan ($1,791 per ton), while the price for Algeria ($513 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
