The average export price for cotton; sewing thread, put up for retail sale stood at $4,981 per ton in December 2023, growing by 8.3% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2023 an increase of 10% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $8,279 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to December 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($12,642 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kyrgyzstan ($1,365 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From February 2023 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+14.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
