In December 2023, the average export price for cotton waste (including yarn waste and garnetted stock) amounted to $937 per ton, surging by 10% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 an increase of 70% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,148 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to December 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($1,794 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($793 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+6.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
