In January 2024, the average export price for cotton waste (including yarn waste and garnetted stock) amounted to $1,243 per ton, surging by 5.9% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, showed a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 16% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,638 per ton. From July 2023 to January 2024, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Pakistan ($1,597 per ton), while the average price for exports to Egypt ($540 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Portugal (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In January 2024, the average import price for cotton waste (including yarn waste and garnetted stock) amounted to $1,017 per ton, shrinking by -5.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 an increase of 21% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,161 per ton. From April 2023 to January 2024, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was Iran ($1,174 per ton), while the price for Kazakhstan ($567 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Azerbaijan (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +55.4% against 2020 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
